Who We Are

St. Matthew's is a growing congregation in the heart of Bergen County, a part of the Episcopal Diocese of Newark in the Episcopal Church USA and the world-wide Anglican Communion.

Within the pages of our website you will find news about parish activities, Sunday sermons for children and adults, photos of people and places, and much more.

We worship at 10:00 a.m. each Sunday with a celebration of Holy Communion. Please join us! You will be welcomed!

We have identified five priorities for our parish:

  • Welcoming New Members

  • Activities for Young Families

  • Inspiring Worship

  • Lively and Engaging Fellowship

  • Meaningful Outreach

We invite you to browse these pages to see how these priorities are made real. But to get to know us a little better we invite you to join us for worship anytime. We warmly welcome all newcomers and visitors!

St. Matthew’s Paramus and St. Martin’s Maywood have entered  into a joint ministry.  Father Rubén Jurado is the Priest in Charge of both congregations.  We worship together weekly, with Father Jurado celebrating the Eucharist every Sunday; the first and third Sundays in Paramus at St. Matthew’s and the second and fourth Sundays in Maywood at St. Martin’s. Our shared coffee hours are fellowship times where our congregants enjoy planning activities together and becoming friends.

The Sunday bulletin now features both churches and includes news and activities happening at both locations.

Stay tuned for new and exciting congregational activities that will happen now that we have Father Jurado as our spiritual leader.  He is available for pastoral care, weddings, funerals, confirmations, and of course, it has been a blessing listening to his sermons.

May God bless us all as we continue our spiritual journey with our new friends in Maywood with the guidance of Father Rubén Jurado.

OUR MISSION

We, the Congregation of St. Matthew's, seek to know the gifts that Christ has given us, to use them as Christ would have us in a ministry of love and encouragement to each other and the community, with God's help.

Prayer to St. Matthew:

We thank you, heavenly Father, for the witness of your apostle and evangelist

Matthew to the Gospel of your Son our Savior; and we pray that, after his

example, we may with ready wills and hearts obey the calling of our Lord to

follow him; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and

the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
